Overview
CyanoEX Powder™ is a powdered treatment intended for the control of cyanobacteria in freshwater and marine aquariums. It is designed for accurate weight-based dosing and controlled application.
CyanoEX Powder® is a powdered treatment intended for the control of red, black, and blue-green cyanobacteria (commonly referred to as "red slime"). It may also assist with reduction of organic sludge and improvement of water clarity.
When used as directed, CyanoEX Powder™ provides targeted reduction of cyanobacterial growth without requiring system shutdown.
Available volumes: 2 g, 6 g.
Indications
Use the dosing level that matches the severity of cyanobacterial infestation. The images below illustrate typical coverage levels.
Mild infestation
Typically presents as thin film or small localized patches, often limited to low-flow zones.
Light dose (mild cases): 0.3 g per 38–40 L (10–10.5 US gal)
Approx. 3.2–3.3 mg/L active ingredient.
If cyanobacteria persists, re-dose after 72 hours or switch to the standard dose.
Moderate-heavy infestation
Typically presents as thick mats, broad coverage, or recurrent outbreaks that return after manual removal.
Standard dose (recommended): 0.6 g per 60 L (16 US gal)
Approx. 4.17 mg/L active ingredient.
Maintain water flow and aeration. Re-dose after 72 hours if required.
Directions
- Remove chemical filtration media (such as activated carbon) prior to treatment.
- Measure the required amount of CyanoEX Powder™ using a calibrated digital scale.
- Dissolve the measured amount in a small volume of aquarium water.
- Distribute evenly throughout the aquarium, preferably into an area of active water flow.
- Maintain normal circulation and aeration during treatment.
Standard dose (recommended): 0.6 g per 60 L (16 US gallons)
Light dose (mild cases): 0.3 g per 38–40 L (10–10.5 US gallons)
If necessary, repeat treatment after 72 hours.
