Nereus™ Power Filters

Designed to deliver the highest water quality possible with maximum versatility and ease of use

Made by LGND Aquarium Design Nature
LGND Nereus™ Power Filters

LGND Nereus™ Hang-On Filters combine effective aquarium filtration with flexible adjustment and straightforward maintenance. A dual water intake draws water from both the surface and deeper in the aquarium, while the floating surface skimmer helps remove surface film and floating debris. With adjustable flow, removable media compartments, an adjustable intake pipe and a protective intake sponge, Nereus™ filters can be adapted to suit a variety of aquarium layouts. The waterfall return encourages surface movement and gas exchange, bringing together filtration, circulation and surface care in one compact system.

Adjustable Flow Regulation – LGND Nereus™

Adjustable Flow Regulation

LGND Nereus™ filters feature a convenient flow-control dial that lets you tailor water movement to your aquarium and its inhabitants. Turn the dial to increase circulation or reduce the output for fish that prefer gentler currents. With maximum rated flows of 500 L/h for Nereus™ 70 and 600 L/h for Nereus™ 100, both models offer adjustable performance to suit different aquarium layouts.

Floating Surface Skimmer – LGND Nereus™

Floating Surface Skimmer

LGND Nereus™ features a floating surface skimmer that rises and falls with changes in water level within its operating range. Water is drawn through the gaps between its crown-shaped teeth, helping to remove surface film and floating debris. Working alongside the submerged intake, it provides filtration from both the surface and deeper within the aquarium.

Adjustable Intake Flow – LGND Nereus™

Adjustable Intake Flow

LGND Nereus™ draws water through both the submerged intake pipe and the floating surface skimmer. The control valve on the intake pipe lets you adjust the balance between deeper water intake and surface skimming, tailoring filtration to your aquarium’s needs.

Available on both Nereus™ 70 and Nereus™ 100.

Sponge Filtration Chamber – LGND Nereus™

Sponge Filtration Chamber

The dedicated sponge chamber provides mechanical filtration by trapping suspended particles, while its porous structure offers a surface for beneficial bacteria to colonise. The accessible sponge can be removed for routine rinsing, helping maintain water flow and filtration performance.

Multi-Stage Filtration & Water Circulation – LGND Nereus™

Multi-Stage Filtration & Water Circulation

LGND Nereus™ guides water through its media compartments before returning it to the aquarium through the waterfall outlet. This directed flow promotes contact with the filtration media, combining mechanical particle removal with biological filtration and optional chemical treatment. Sponges capture suspended debris, established beneficial bacteria help process ammonia and nitrite, and suitable chemical media can target dissolved impurities. The removable compartments allow the media selection to be adapted to your aquarium while keeping routine maintenance straightforward.

Easy Maintenance – LGND Nereus™

Easy Maintenance

LGND Nereus™ features removable media baskets that lift out individually for convenient cleaning. Each basket keeps the filtration media together, making it easy to rinse, inspect or replace selected media without removing the entire filter from the aquarium. Simply return the baskets to their compartments after maintenance.

Integrated Pump – LGND Nereus™

Integrated Pump

LGND Nereus™ features an integrated pump that draws aquarium water through the intake system and delivers it to the filtration compartments. Its compact design keeps the pump within the filter housing, providing circulation without a separate external pump. Fill the filter chamber before starting and never operate the pump without water.

More Features. Greater Flexibility.

Waterfall Return & Gas Exchange

The broad waterfall outlet creates surface movement as filtered water returns to the aquarium, supporting gas exchange and circulation. Maintaining the water level close to the outlet helps reduce splashing and waterfall noise.

Directed Water Flow

Water enters the upper distribution area and travels down through the media compartments before collecting in the lower channel and rising towards the outlet. This guided circulation promotes contact with the selected media for mechanical, biological and optional chemical filtration.

Telescopic Intake Pipe

The adjustable intake assembly on Nereus™ 70 and 100 filters allows the submerged inlet to be positioned at a suitable depth. The telescopic lower section makes it easy to adapt the intake length to your aquarium layout while keeping the inlet clear of substrate and decorations.

Flexible Media Selection

Removable media baskets give you the freedom to choose and arrange suitable filtration media for your aquarium. Reusable sponges and loose media provide an alternative to disposable replacement cartridges. All LGND Nereus™ Filters include LGND Ar Mathor™ biological media to help establish biological filtration.

Accessible Impeller Maintenance

The impeller and its chamber can accumulate debris over time. Inspecting and cleaning these components during routine maintenance helps maintain water flow and reduce noise caused by deposits or obstructions.

Hang-On Mounting

The stepped mounting profile allows the filter to rest on a compatible aquarium edge, keeping the main filtration chamber outside the tank. Ensure that the unit sits securely and level, with the return outlet positioned over the aquarium.

3-Year Limited Warranty

LGND Nereus™ Filters are covered against defects in materials and workmanship for three years from the date of purchase, excluding the pump impeller. Register your filter to extend eligible cover to five years. Cover includes replacement of defective parts, subject to the LGND warranty terms and conditions.

Which Nereus™ is right for you?

FAQ
What is the difference between the two models?

Nereus™ 70 has a declared maximum flow of 500 L/h and a power rating of 5 W. Nereus™ 100 has a wider housing, a declared maximum flow of 600 L/h and a power rating of 6 W.

Does the recommended aquarium size refer to litres?

No. The stated recommendations refer to aquarium length: up to 50 cm for Nereus™ 70 and up to 60 cm for Nereus™ 100. Consider actual water volume, stocking and circulation requirements when choosing a filter.

Does the surface skimmer replace the submerged intake?

No. The two intakes work together. The floating skimmer collects surface water, while the lower intake draws water from below the surface.

Can I change the filter media?

Yes. Suitable aquarium media can be arranged within the removable modules. Keep the media and water passages free enough to maintain circulation.

Is it suitable for shrimp and fry?

The sponge helps protect the lower intake. The surface skimmer remains an additional intake opening, so additional protection or a different filtration arrangement may be needed for very small shrimp and fry.

Why has the flow decreased?

Check the intake sponge, filtration media, pipework and impeller chamber for debris. Also check the water level and the positions of the flow controls.

How can I reduce splashing and waterfall noise?

Keep the aquarium water level close to the return outlet, within the operating limits of the filter. Ensure that the housing is level and the outlet is clear.

Does a new filter immediately provide biological filtration?

No. Beneficial bacterial populations need time to establish. Monitor ammonia and nitrite during aquarium cycling and after changes that may affect the biological filter.

Safety
