Waterfall Return & Gas Exchange
The broad waterfall outlet spreads filtered water across the aquarium surface, encouraging circulation and supporting gas exchange. This surface movement helps distribute returning water rather than concentrating it into a narrow jet. Keeping the aquarium water level close to the outlet reduces the drop, helping to minimise splashing and waterfall noise.
Directed Water Flow
Water enters the upper distribution area and travels down through the media compartments before collecting in the lower channel and rising towards the return outlet. This guided route promotes contact with the filtration media housed within the baskets. Depending on your media selection, the system can combine mechanical particle removal, biological filtration and targeted chemical treatment in one accessible filter chamber.
Floating Surface Skimmer
The floating surface skimmer rises and falls with changes in water level within its operating range. Water is drawn through the gaps between its crown-shaped teeth, helping to collect floating debris and reduce surface film. Working alongside the submerged intake, it allows Nereus™ to draw water from both the surface and deeper within the aquarium.
Adjustable Flow Regulation
The conveniently positioned upper control dial allows you to increase or reduce the waterfall output to suit your aquarium layout and its inhabitants. Choose stronger circulation or a gentler current for fish that prefer less water movement. Adjust the flow gradually while checking that water continues to circulate freely through the filter.
Adjustable Intake Balance
A separate control valve on the submerged intake pipe allows you to adjust the draw through the lower inlet. This helps balance deeper water intake with the floating surface skimmer, providing flexibility when surface conditions or filtration needs change. Keep both intake openings clear of debris for consistent operation.
Telescopic Intake Pipe
The adjustable intake assembly on Nereus™ 70 and 100 filters allows the submerged inlet to be positioned at a suitable depth. Its telescopic lower section makes it easier to accommodate different aquarium layouts without positioning the inlet directly against the substrate. Leave sufficient clearance around the intake sponge to allow water to enter freely.
Protective Intake Sponge
The sponge fitted over the lower intake captures coarse debris before it enters the pipework and provides a protective barrier around the submerged strainer. Its porous structure also offers additional surface area for beneficial bacterial colonisation. The sponge can be removed for rinsing, making this first stage of filtration easy to maintain.
Flexible Media Selection
Removable media baskets give you the freedom to choose suitable filtration media and arrange them according to your aquarium’s requirements. Combine reusable sponges with biological media, or add appropriate bagged chemical media when targeted treatment is needed. The system provides an alternative to disposable replacement cartridges, allowing individual media to be maintained or replaced as required.
LGND Ar Mathor™ Biological Media Included
All LGND Nereus™ Filters include LGND Ar Mathor™ biological media to provide a surface for beneficial bacteria to colonise. Once established, these bacterial populations help process ammonia and nitrite as part of the aquarium’s biological filtration. Keep established media wet during maintenance and rinse gently in water removed from the aquarium to help preserve the bacterial colony.
Individually Removable Media Baskets
The media baskets lift out individually, keeping their contents together during inspection and cleaning. This makes it easier to rinse mechanical media, inspect biological media or replace selected media without removing the entire filter from the aquarium. Individual access also allows maintenance to be staggered, helping preserve established biological filtration.
Accessible Impeller Maintenance
The impeller and its chamber can accumulate debris and mineral deposits over time, potentially reducing flow or increasing operating noise. Access for routine inspection and cleaning helps keep these components free of obstructions. Disconnect the power before maintenance, follow the supplied instructions and check that the impeller moves freely before reassembly.
Translucent Filter Housing
The smoked translucent housing allows the condition of the media and internal water movement to be checked visually. This makes routine inspection more convenient and helps you identify visible debris accumulation between cleaning sessions. The accessible chamber layout keeps the filtration components within easy reach when maintenance is required.
Space-Saving Hang-On Mounting
The stepped mounting profile allows the filter to rest on a compatible aquarium edge, keeping the main filtration chamber outside the tank. This preserves internal space for plants, hardscape and fish while leaving the media chamber accessible from above. Before starting, check that the filter sits securely and level, with the waterfall outlet positioned over the aquarium.
3-Year Limited Warranty
LGND Nereus™ Filters are covered against defects in materials and workmanship for three years from the date of purchase, excluding the pump impeller. Register your filter to extend eligible cover to five years. Warranty cover includes replacement of defective parts, subject to the LGND warranty terms, registration requirements and applicable exclusions. Retain your proof of purchase for any warranty claim.
